The beaches and Devils Lake in Lincoln City

Lincoln City sits on the Pacific shoreline, and most of what people do here starts at the water.

The beaches

Wikipedia says Lincoln City has "seven miles of beach." The City of Lincoln City's own frequently-asked-questions page also refers to seven miles of shoreline, though other pages use older figures, so treat the number as approximate. The city lists its state recreation sites and beach access on its D River page. Oregon's beaches are public, and the Oregon State Parks site posts conditions and closures. Check the tide table and the forecast on the visiting page before you walk the beach.

The D River and Devils Lake

Devils Lake is a small lake in Lincoln County that separates the northern part of Lincoln City from the Central Oregon Coast Range. Wikipedia gives its surface area as 680 acres, with a maximum depth of 21.1 feet. Its main outflow is the D River, which Wikipedia puts at about 120 feet long as it runs west to the Pacific. The city's own D River page describes the D River State Recreation Site as a windy beach with paved parking and restrooms. Devils Lake State Recreation Area is a state park on the lake's south shore.
